healthier, happier employees

Why WellBeingCorps?

$37,300. That's on the low end of how much money a small tech company (<$500,000 annual revenue) will lose to sick days, lost productivity, and interrupted business each year.

I don't know about you but I could think of a bunch of other things I could use that money for…

  • How about you give your top 5 developers a 10% raise?
  • Maybe you had you eye on that $37,000 USB drive?
  • Or maybe you could use that money to acquire new customers and grow your business.

I think having an extra $37,500 bucks laying around is a pretty good problem to have. If you agree then you may want to keep reading...

Meet Kevin.

He is a Software Engineer at a mid-sized tech company in Scottsdale. He works hard each day cranking through hundreds of lines of code building and shipping his kick ass product. During this time Kevin spends upwards of 50-60 hours a week hunched over his keyboard staring at his array of high definition displays making sure your company's product makes the Growth Team's job easy.

Kevin is a great guy and if you were to lose him to a competing company, or any other company in the area, you'd be in trouble. Replacing a great engineer is not a cheap or easy process is it?

So your job is to keep Kevin happy. You do this by providing all the bells and whistles that most developers have come to expect from innovative tech companies these days. Health benefits? Check. Free lunches? Check. As many displays as one can fit on a desk? Check. Gym memberships? Check.

And Kevin is happy. For now.

Kevin didn't make it to work yesterday because he tried to run the Susan G Komen 5k on Saturday. He ended up at the doctor because his low back decided it wasn't up to the task of supporting that charity. Kevin is bummed out by this especially since his doctor saw that Sitting Is Killing You Infographic on Facebook last week and told him his job is the reason his back is destroyed.

Please don't bum out Kevin.

Unfortunately Kevin is like most people. Amazingly talented yet prone to put health and wellness on the back burner. Sure he has a gym membership, he's not paying for it so he's got nothing to lose, but he also survives off of all those sugary caffeinated beverages in your company fridge. His job also requires him to sit at a desk for extended periods of time which, as many of the popular media outlets have told us lately, is slowly killing Kevin.

Please don't kill Kevin.

I know you understand the importance of keeping your employees happy, healthy, and active. The boost in energy, creativity, and productivity that comes from happy and healthily employees can have a tremendous return on investment ($3.27 for every $1.00 spent). Sadly, 58% of companies recently polled DO NOT track ROI of their employee wellness programs. You wouldn't dream of sending out an email campaign without some sort of analytics built in would you?

How many of your employees are actually using those gym memberships you are paying for each month?

Don't blame them.

This health and fitness stuff is hard to figure out. What to do, how much to do of it, running is good for you, running is bad for you… There are so many different programs out there it's hard to know which to trust or believe. Add on to that the fact that the only way to do it effectively is to hire an over priced 20 year old personal trainer that could cost upwards of $500/mo or you could spend all of your free time in a cycle of frustrating trial and error to figure it out on your own.

It doesn't have to be this way for you. It doesn't have to be this way for everyone in your office.

Enter PJ.

Hi, I'm here to show you the path to wellness, productive work days, and happy employees who don't want to find another job. I could continue to go on about me but I'm guessing there is a 'About' section around here somewhere you could read if you wanted to so, lets talk about you instead.

"In a nutshell, I have always had a super tight low back from all the time I spend sitting in a chair programming and he totally unlocked it in like 20 minutes of stretching. Ridiculous!" - Lukas, Web Developer, Scottsdale AZ

Yep, it can be that easy.

The bad news? The human body was designed to function a certain way. Unfortunately being in a chair, texting on an iPhone, and spending 10 hours a day hunched over a keyboard was not part of that optimal design.

The good news? You don't have to give up the technology you're reading this on right now in order to optimize your health. It is a simple matter of organizing your body position in the way your body was designed. Once you master these strategies you'll be able to choose your own health and wellness adventure.

Do you want to kill Kevin?

Of course you don't! You want Kevin alive, happy, healthy, and walking through your door each morning helping you ship an awesome product to your awesome customers. Kevin has a sought after talent in a very competitive space. Who is going to make him happy? You or that company down the street?

This is where I come in.

How about some basic movement and mobility strategies to instantly make those long hours at the desk much more tolerable?

Maybe customized weight loss and fitness strategies for your motivated team members who are ready to take control of their health?

Or maybe a complete customized corporate wellness plan that fits your needs and quickly increase productivity, wellness, and the bottom-line?

Think about this:

According to the World Economic Forum, when health and well being are actively promoted, companies are:

  • 3.5x more likely to encourage creativity and innovation
  • 3x more productive
  • 4x less likely to lose talent within 1 year
  • 8x more likely to have engaged employees
  • 2.5x more likely to perform at their best

Oh and that doesn't mention the $37,500+ increase in revenue you could gain.

Sounds like a pretty good investment huh? How about this:

"The cost of replacing an employee—recruiting, interviews, relocation, training, etc.—can run upwards of $100k or more depending on the level of employee. The cost of retaining an employee is less than this. Always." -The Pie Guy

Or this:

"Harvard researchers found in 2010 that medical costs [to employers] dropped by about $3.27 for every dollar spent on employee wellness." -CNN

I'm no rocket surgeon but I can't think of another way I can turn $1.00 into $3.27 all while making people happy and healthy…

And I think we've already come to agree that making happy employees is one of the best ways to solve any recruitment and retention problem you may have, right?

The 2011 National Wellness Trends Study found that improving recruitment and retention was rated the highest of priorities of every company surveyed. The sole reason they spend money on their employees to keep them happy and thus appear to be one of the most desired places to work in order to attract top talent.

You can be that place…

So lets make Kevin happy because Happy Kevin doesn't waste his time looking for a new job.

Happy Kevin tells his friends that your company is THE place to work.

Happy Kevin is a much more productive and valuable employee.

Happy Kevin is able to make your customers Happy Customers.

And I think we have all seen what the simple concept of "Delivering Happiness" can do for the company that understands that they are in the making people happy business and they also just happen to have a product for sale.

Are you ready to quickly fill your office with Happy Kevins before the other guys do?
